About the Event

SQCC hosted a gathering on 18 March for the spouses of the International Cultural Exchange group whose husbands studying at the National Defense University in Washington.

The group toured SQCC’s permanent exhibition where they learned about the aflaj irrigation system, Oman’s maritime history, and the role of frankincense in Omani hospitality.  The group was presented with an introduction to Oman through a comprehensive PowerPoint on Oman’s culture, people & history. After the presentation, the group played a trivia and were asked about some information included in the presentation such as how many governorates are in Oman, what are the countries that have borders with Oman and the name of the frankincense burner? The winners received prizes, which included a small silvernecklace with a symbol from Oman such as the khanjar .

The event also included henna and smelling some scents from Oman such as frankincense, oud and Amouage perfumes. The group concluded their visit with networking and a lunch reception also attended by a diplomat from the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman.
